Frequently Asked Questions

How is organic production defined?
Organic is a labeling term that refers to agricultural products produced in accordance with the Organic Food Production Act of 1990, as amended in November of 2005 (7 U.S.C. 6501 et seq.).
Production of organic fertilizers is regulated by section 2109b. (www.ams.usda.gov/AMSv1.0/getfile?dDocName=STELPRDC5060370&acct=nopgeninfo).
Organic production is administered and regulated by National Organic Program (NOP), a department of Agricultural Marketing Services.

What is the Progressive Digestion Process and how is it unique?
Progressive Digestion Process (PDP) is a liquid composting process that converts raw organic materials, usually food industry wastes, into microbially active, pathogen-free, nutritious fertilizers. It differs from other comparable processes in that it takes full advantage of both microbial and enzymatic digestion before it reaches pathogen destructive thermophilic temperatures. The finished products are then centrifuged, filtered, and delivered to growers to be applied through any irrigation system (drip tape, sprinklers, flooding, etc.).

Are there any synthetic substances and ingredients used in the AgroThrive products?
No. All ingredients in AgroThrive fertilizer products comply with the NOP rule for organic production, therefore there are no synthetic substances in AgroThrive products.

What processing procedures are in place to guard against commingling or misidentification between organic and non-organic products?
There are no non-organic products on AgroThrive premises. Therefore, there is no need to have procedures in place to guard against commingling.

What Systems are in place to prevent cross contamination after AgroThrive products have been heat treated by PDP? Raw materials and finished products at AgroThrive are handled with color coded and dedicated equipment. No equipment that is used for raw materials handling is used to handle finished products, and vice versa. All finished product contact surfaces are cleaned and disinfected before use. Clear records of standard operating procedures (SOP) are kept for all major activities during production and AgroThrive handling. AgroThrive staff is well trianed to prevent post process contamination.

What documentation does AgroThrive provide to their customers?
The contents of each completed digester are assigned a unique lot number as soon as the product is centrifuged, filtered, and stored. This number is used on all documents and processing and handling records for easy lot identification and trace-back. The documents that accompany each AgroThrive delivery include:

  • CDFA approved label
  • CDFA approved MSDS
  • Manure-Free Certificate
  • Thermophilic temperature profile graph
  • Certificates of analysis for:
    • E. coli O157:H7
    • E.H.E.C.
    • Salmonella
    • Fecal Coliforms
    • C. botulinum toxin
